About

The company behind the software

Accounting software is a long commitment. Before you make one, it is reasonable to know who is on the other end of it, and to be able to check.

Where it came from

Written inside a practice, not for one

Murgese was built inside a working UK accountancy practice, by somebody who signs accounts and files returns. That is the whole reason it behaves the way it does: it keeps what the books say separate from what was filed, it refuses rather than guesses, and where it cannot work something out it says so instead of producing a figure that has to be unpicked at the year end.

It is not a general ledger with a UK skin on it. Construction industry deductions at all three rates, the domestic reverse charge, fund accounting that balances within each fund, FRS 105 and FRS 102 Section 1A with iXBRL, and a corporation tax computation with capital allowances are ordinary parts of the product rather than modules bolted on for a market someone spotted.

How we work

The status page is the point

Most software companies publish what their product does. Ours publishes what it does not, with the same prominence, and it is the first page updated when something changes. Not yet HMRC recognised. Companies House filing never tested against the real service. Bank feeds written and never connected. No payroll calculation and none planned. No audit functionality. Windows only.

That list costs enquiries. It also means nothing on this site will surprise you in week three, and it is the reason the product's own manual gives a section to what each screen will refuse to do and why.

Where it stands today

Support

Who answers, and who you ask

If your accountant supplied the software, they are who you ask: they know your books, and they hold the licence. If you bought direct, or you are the firm, you come to us. That routing is built into the product as well as written here, so nobody arrives at the wrong door.

How support works

Checkable

The details worth verifying

Every one of these can be looked up independently, which is the only kind of credential worth printing. We hold no certifications and claim none.

Murgese Ltd

Registered in England and Wales, company number 13464940, incorporated 18 June 2021. Searchable on the Companies House register.

ICO registration

Registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, reference ZC230438, and searchable on the ICO's own register of fee payers.

Trade mark

MURGESE is a trade mark of Murgese Ltd. UK application UK00004435291, in classes 9 and 42, was examined and accepted for publication on 3 September 2026. It is not a registered trade mark yet: it has to be published, survive the opposition period and be entered on the register first.

Your data, not ours

The software runs on your machines and we hold none of your client data, so your firm is the controller of it and we are not processing it for you. What that means.

Documented

A 319-page user manual is free to download and sent with the installer rather than being sold separately, with 65 screenshots of the running product. A quick guide covers the first hour.

Prove it before you rely on it

Take a period you have already filed, recompute it from the records and compare it figure by figure with what was submitted. How the check works.

Your books stay yours

A portable export of the whole company, in a form you can take elsewhere, and backups on a schedule you set, to places you choose.

Evaluate it properly

Everything we publish about this product is meant to be checked. Request the software and the manual, and check it.
