Terms

The terms on which you use this website, and where to find the terms on which the software itself is licensed.

Last updated 12 October 2026.

Which document you want

There are two, and they cover different things. This page is the terms for using this website. The software licence is the agreement that governs your use of Murgese itself: what you may do with it, the warranties, the limit on our liability and what happens to your data. It is the document the installer puts in front of you, published here in full so it can be read first, and it can be saved as a file.

1. Who we are

Murgese Ltd is a company registered in England and Wales under company number 13464940. We publish Murgese, on-premise accounting and practice-management software for UK accountants and for businesses keeping their own books.

Notices under these terms or under a licence should be sent to legal@murgese.co.uk.

2. These terms

By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site. We may change these terms, and the version published here is the one that applies from the date shown above.

3. The software is licensed separately

These are website terms. They are not the licence for the software. Murgese is supplied under a separate licence agreement, which is presented to you when you install the software and which governs your use of it. Where the two differ in relation to the software, the licence agreement applies.

You do not have to install anything to read it. The licence agreement is published in full on the software licence page, and can be saved as a file from there.

Where an accountancy firm supplied your licence, your arrangement for price, support and duration is with that firm.

4. What this site is, and is not

This site describes what the software does. It is not professional advice, and nothing on it should be relied on as accountancy, tax or legal advice for your own circumstances.

Murgese is not HMRC recognised software, for Making Tax Digital for VAT or for the CT600, and is not listed by HMRC as recognised. Filing to Companies House has been tested against our own harness only, and has never been submitted to Companies House. Bank feeds have never been connected to a provider. Murgese does not calculate payroll and is not audit software. The software prepares returns and accounts. Submitting them remains your responsibility, as does satisfying yourself that the figures are right. The status page sets out the current position and forms part of these terms.

5. Accuracy

We take care over what we publish here, and we correct what we get wrong. We do not promise that this website is free of errors or always available. Screens shown on this site are illustrations, and figures in them are made up.

6. Your use of the site

You may read this site, print pages from it and quote from it with attribution. You may not use it in a way that damages it or interferes with anyone else's use of it, attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, or submit anything through its forms that is unlawful or that you have no right to send us.

7. What we own

The content of this site, the Murgese name and the marks used on it belong to Murgese Ltd or to whoever licensed them to us. MURGESE is a trade mark of Murgese Ltd. UK application UK00004435291, in classes 9 and 42, was examined and accepted for publication on 3 September 2026. It is not a registered trade mark yet: it has to be published, survive the opposition period and be entered on the register first. Xero and QuickBooks are the trade marks of their respective owners and are named here only to describe what the software can read.

8. Links

Where we link to another site we do so because we think it is useful. We do not control it and we are not responsible for what is on it.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data or any indirect loss arising from your use of this website. If you are a consumer, this does not affect your statutory rights.

Liability in relation to the software is dealt with in the licence agreement, not here.

10. Data protection

How we handle personal information collected through this site is set out in the privacy notice. Requests about your own data go to privacy@murgese.co.uk.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.
